Cosmo, Cardiff’s very own ‘Rebel without Applause’, has put a free sampler album on line for peeps to download and consume at their leisure. Think you have heard it all before? Well you haven’t (unless you have already heard this album, obviously), cos there are two new and exclusive tracks. Oi Mush, Suicide Bomber in your Heart, F@ck the BNP…. All the classics are here; and more.

We have given him some stick in the past, but that is just cos we love him. The guy really is a diamond; his combination of social insight, philosophical musings, political awareness, cultural appreciation, poetic genius, self depreciating humour and drunkenness, together with a natural talent on the guitar, provides us with a treat for your head heart and feet. He makes Billy Bragg look like a Tory and makes Jasper Carrot look like a comedian.

MY(OUTER)SPACE

Right, been off line for a while due to terminal illness of me hard drive, but back in the world of cyber space now. And what better way to get back into blogging than to let you know about a little site I have discovered called MyOuterSpace. Basically it is “A project that musicians from all over planet Earth participate in. Each musician or band provides his best or an especially composed song for the CDs you can download HERE and NOW for FREE”.

I can’t comment yet on what the releases are like, but it looks interesting to me. As I type I am downloading Volume 5 and will update this post when I have given it a listen.

FREE MARK VILDER ALBUM DOWNLOAD

Mark Vilder, the mash up king behind Go Home Productions has just released an album and EP of original material (i.e. stuff he has written himself not mash ups). It is, quite frankly, amazing that he bothers to mash up other peoples records if he can make music this fine on his own. Heavily influenced by psychedelic and funky sounds from the last 4 decades, from the Rolling Stones through to the Stone Roses this is one of the best new albums we have heard for ages.

And what’s more….. it is only available for free download! (Although if you want to send him something via pay pall you can). He is also happy, in fact eager, for people to share it. So get yourself over to his website and check it out. While you are there, you might want to download some of his mash ups for gratis as well.

RIPPED AND SCRATCHED

Purely by accident we happened across the blog ALWAYS SEARCHING FOR MUSIC. It is run by ‘Garychching’ and appears to be him ripping old stuff (mainly punk) off vinyl, uploading it as MP3s into cyber space and posting links.

As I type we are bopping around to the classic punk compilation from 1977 ‘STREETS’. A quick look down the previous posts reveals a wealth of forgotten ‘old skool’ punk classics, dating back to days of old, when punks were bold and mohicans had not been invented, like LONDON, THE ART ATTACKS and… just go and look for yourself. I am sure we will be clicking on the old ‘save target as’ button quite a bit in weeks to come. This is what blogs are for! Nice one Gary.

Our old friend SAT has a new mix, Revolutionary Dreams available on BoomBox and it has to be said it is one of his best, some mighty fine funky stuff.. some of it new, some of it reworkings of stuff that will be familiar.
